  2. @DreDD: If Cabunny wasn't able to knock any sense into him with that ROCK-SOLID MARCHING BAND BATON(!), then I would say he's beyond hope.

    1. DreDD: Sara could always whack em with her iPad

    2. @DreDD: I like the way you think, but Marchie Archie is not worth the sacrifice of a good iPad. That should be reserved for when she challenges Kingston for the Grand Championship.

  4. @SDR: You're walking around with something as powerful as--possibly even more powerful than--a baton?!! Dear lord, be careful! One false move and you could DESTROY THE ENTIRE CITY OF READING ALONG WITH EVERYTHING ELSE IN A THIRTY-TWO MILE RADIUS! 0_0

  5. Sara doesn't need any weapons. Her hands and feet are the only weapons she needs. I am sure Sara knows 287 different ways to break someone's arm too.

    1. @Dave: Yeah, I got that; I was joking.

But now I really want to hear a list of those 287 ways, a la Jericho in WCW.

  7. If I can be serious for a minute...

Hopefully me going into "armchair booker" mode will not be annoying, but the blog entry reminded me of something I read once, about promos. I forget where I first read it, but I'm sure it came from somebody in the business.

It went something like this: "If you're a young guy taking on a veteran and you run him down in a promo, talking about how his best days are behind him and he's washed up and all that, then you have to be booked to job to him. Because if you beat him after saying all that stuff, what have you proved? That you can beat up a guy whose best days are behind him, who's all washed up? How is that supposed to impress anybody?

"And it's the same if you're a veteran taking on a rookie, and you can talk about how this kid is green and can't match your experience, how you'll wrestle circles around him...if you go on to do that, then what does it prove? How is it supposed to impress anybody by beating somebody who, according to you, isn't anywhere near your level?"

It seems to me that the same logic can apply to people of roughly the same age if there seems to be a big disparity in their level of dangerousness. Sara's been red hot, as the CHIKARA blog post mentions. Archie? Not so much. An argument can certainly be made that the Queen of Wrestling doesn't need to prove herself or impress any more than she already has, but still, it seems to me at the moment that it would be better for Archie to talk about what he'd do, and then for Sara to write about her accomplishments minus the stuff about how pitiful Archie is, and then let her actions (specifically, winning the match) speak for her.

Of course, at the time I'm writing this I don't know how it's going to turn out. Quack's a good booker, and there are all kinds of ways that this can turn out which could be good instead of bad. This could lead to an upset (likely because of outside interference). It could end with a loss which ends up being the straw that breaks the camel's back, with Veronica finally deserting Archie and him hitting rock bottom, which opens up a number of interesting possibilities for where the character might go.

Whatever the end result, I hope that it isn't as simple as "Death Rey takes on pathetic opponent because she needs to wrestle somebody, Death Rey destroys pathetic opponent, nothing comes of it, the end." And after this, I look forward to seeing Sara go after bigger game. Saturyne is a good start, since from all I've seen she's got more credibility than Archie despite being new to the promotion.

    1. By the way, I tried to put "lancestorm" tags around that first sentence, but it wouldn't let me. >_>

  8. I think you're putting WAY too much thought into that blog. Archie's entire character is there for people to make fun of him. Even Veronica pokes fun at him nonstop on Twitter. Sara hasn't said anything everyone else has said before. He's the heel. He's always over confident and it usually ends up biting him in the butt in the end. I mean the dude announces that he is going to hit his finisher before attempting it.

I'd be disappointed in Sara if she DIDN'T make fun of Archie. I am really looking forward to this match because I know it will be entertaining and there is a high probability that Sara will win the match.

    1. @Dave: Yeah, you might be right. I began typing up this whole response about the way I like to see heels booked and then I realized "Damn, I could talk about this all week! And I shouldn't do that."

So I'll just say that I prefer seeing faces beating up on people on their level (or seemingly above their level, like Mark Henry was in the 'E) more than I like to see them beat up on somebody weaker than they are. One of the things I like about Chikara is that the heels there seem to be pretty tough; Vin Gerard's made Eddie Kingston tap out, Ophidian's looking like a beast right now, the BDK ran roughshod over everybody, etc. Archie's the exception, and he kind of seems like one of these sometimes:

Even Sara said that she almost felt bad for the guy, after all.
